Hello all; it’s Suyi here.
So, our first Dear Writer Newsletter went live on Friday.
Man, if you haven’t subscribed yet, you’re missing out terribly. June’s newsletter was titled Dear Writer: What d’you mean you don’t have time? and was packed with lots of advice and a barrage of fun. Here are some excerpts:
Think about the last time you suffered a heartbreak. I bet you thought, “after seven years together, she left me!” or “I gave him *insert number* years of my life!” No, I’m not psychic, experience taught me too. (group hug)
Anyway answer this: why didn’t you cry, “she left me after I spent over 500,000 Naira on birthday cakes?” or “I gave him 10 designer wristwatches and he still dumped me?!” instead?
The answer is not because you don’t value designer wristwatches, money or yummy ‘baiday’ cakes. It is because you understand the greater value of time. We all do.
Did you know that to be a writer, you must first become a thief?
If you keep closely to my facebook page or receive my newsletter, After Five Writing Shenanigans, you’ll hear me talk a lot about stealing time. I make no bones about it: I’m a professional thief, especially when it comes to making time to read and write.
If mandem ah keen on succeeding at anything, mandem gotta make the time for it, no?
Now that your chest is paining you that you missed out on June’s newsletter, you want to get future issues of Dear Writer, right? Do this:
