Poets’ Thursday: Love is blind?

Poets' Thursday

I don’t believe that love is blind.

I see your flaws with a magnificent pair of eyes, modified by proximity.
I see your rumpled shirt, creased still by tell-tale signs of a day in the real world.

I do not see perfect teeth when you smile, I see lips spreading shamelessly with true joy.
I do not see your new pair of second-hand shoes, but I recognize those sure strides as you come home.

I do not hear your voice over the phone because you own a customized iPhone.
I hear the voice of a woman hollering at someone to buy her wares, and I know you are at a market trying hard to succeed.

I may not remember the song.
I remember it was your croaky voice, sputtering out beautiful words.

I see you when all the fanciness is gone.
I hear you when there’s nothing to listen to.

It’s not blindness.
It’s unconditional love.

Gosh, I wish I could write a poem this beautifully to someone I love. It’s so real, flaws and all

Or maybe I should just copy this one, lol.
